Safety at Arlington Landfill

At Arlington Landfill, keeping our community and our workers safe is the most important thing we do. Safety is a priority throughout our operations, from the very base of our Landfill’s liner to the trucks we screen as they enter our gates. We strive to keep all visitors safe by asking them to follow these Landfill Rules and Requirements.

How We Protect The Community

  • Built Strong: Our on-site employees have over 264-years of combined waste management experience.

  • Protects Groundwater and Surface Water: Arlington Landfill assesses groundwater with 30 individual groundwater monitoring wells. Each well is routinely tested to verify the groundwater’s safety.

  • Protects the Air: We routinely monitor the surface of the landfill and exterior probes for landfill gas to verify the landfill gas collection system is operating properly.

  • Monitored Continuously: Sophisticated safety equipment and trained personnel continuously monitor the Landfill and safeguard that only nonhazardous materials are disposed of.

  • Screened for Radiation: We conduct load checks for radiation using sensitive instruments, and if radiation is detected, disposal is delayed until inspectors arrive.

  • Screened for Electronic Waste: Load checks take place every day to prevent and minimize e-waste disposal.

  • Exceeds Standards: The landfill industry is one of the most heavily regulated industries in the country. Arlington Landfill strives to meet and/or exceed all regulatory requirements, obligations and safety standards.

  • Inspected Regularly: Arlington landfill is fully permitted and inspected annually by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).

  • Overseen Continuously: The Landfill has an experienced onsite City Landfill Administrator who regularly inspects the Landfill.
